The walnut in the Périgord région
"What the olive tree is to the Provence region, the walnut tree is for the Périgord region: it lines the roads, it shades the hills, it grows in the small valleys..."
Walnut trees are naturally found here in our landscape as they have been organised in orchards and over the years have taken their place within the environment as picking walnuts gradually turned into true fruit farming.
In harmony with the land, man is today the heir to traditional know-how and has left his stamp on the product which he makes a living from and which he is proud of .
The walnut is part of the local heritage and gastronomy of Périgord, the long-held reputation of which is deeply rooted.
